Opened in phases over many months, the Student Center was designed with a faculty and student dining room, game room, mailroom, bookstore, bank branch, lounge and Rathskeller, a student bar known as the “Rat.” The massive building shifted student life to the north side of campus and created a new venue that welcomed college programming and the public.
