The state approved Glassboro to start offering graduate programs in 1949. An early booklet included admission and course requirements for the master's degrees. The reputation of the Children's Clinic, Glassboro's pioneering education outreach for handicapped children, weighed heavily in the school being able to expand into graduate curriculum.
