Understanding Bias

At Rowan University efforts to provide a respectful, inclusive learning environment and community are dependent on everyone's ability to recognize, respond to, and prevent bias-related incidents. Members of the Rowan University community have the right not to be discriminated against by any agent or organization of Rowan University for reasons of age, color, creed, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, marital status, national origin, political or social affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or other protected class. As a Prof, you have an obligation to take an active role in fostering an appreciation for diversity and sending the message loud and clear that bias-related acts will not be tolerated.

If you would like to learn more about matters of diversity and inclusion, you can either attend an Office of Social Justice, Inclusion, and Conflict Resolution (SJICR) sponsored event or you may request a workshop be facilitated by SJICR or the Office of Equity and Diversity in your office, residence hall, classroom, or for your student organization.
