Please explain the work that will be required of the intern: 

Interns will assist staff members with administrative, legislative, and communications work. Typical intern duties include answering constituent calls, scheduling tours, writing press clips, drafting letters, sorting mail, and assisting Congressman’s staff on research and legislation. Internships are open to undergraduate students and recent college graduates. Stipends are provided to interns based on financial need. Preference will be given to applicants with New Jersey ties.

 

Will there be opportunities for the intern to observe:

 

     Internal strategy sessions? X       Legislative sessions?  X       Committee hearings?  X

 

Is the intern expected to work evenings and weekends?  If so, please explain. 

No, interns will work within normal business hours Monday-Friday.

The Office of Congressman Kim is committed to ensuring a safe working environment for all its staffers and is closely following CDC and local public health officials’ public safety guidance regarding in-person work. As such, this internship can either be remote or in-person or hybrid. Due to the intrinsic in-person nature of the internship, applicants who are interested in working in person will be asked to disclose their vaccination status upon being offered the position. Should candidates not wish to share that information, the applicant will be offered a remote internship.
