Summer Book Club

Summer Book Club

Each summer the Faculty Center selects a book to read and discuss. The Summer Book Club is open to all Rowan Faculty and Staff. The Faculty Center cost-shares the expense of the book with other interested departments. Books are available free on a first come, first served basis. All you need to do is... promise is to attend one of our book club meetings to share and discuss your thoughts. Participants should read the book by the end of July and attend one discussion session in August. All discussion sessions are the same, and they cover the whole book.

2022 - "The Flourishing Teacher: Vocational Renewal for a Sacred Profession" by Christina Bieber Lake.

Sometimes being a faculty member leaves you burned out, due to all it's commitments. This book offers advice on how to flourish when teaching; how to find work/life balance; fit in time for research and writing; how to navigate the challenges of being a female faculty member; and more.

Six discussion group meeting dates will be offered, five in person and one virtually. You need only attend one, as they will be similar. We will discuss the entire book, so be sure that you have finished the book by the time of your meeting date.

Free copies of the book may be available to those who sign up with this form and commit to attending one of the discussion group meetings. Supplies are limited, and this is first come, first served.

If you did not get a free copy, you may order the book on a Kindle (or similar), purchase the book on your own, or borrow it from your local library, and still attend our discussion group.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Natalie Kautz, Assistant Director of the Faculty Center,, 856-256-4669.
