About Commencement
Since our first Commencement ceremony in 1924, thousands of graduates, their families and friends have gathered on the picturesque University Green to celebrate their academic achievements.
Rowan University will host the University Commencement Ceremony & Celebration on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:00am in Richard Wackar Stadium for all graduates, in every college and level. On Monday, May 8 to Thursday, May 11, the colleges and schools will host 13 ceremonies on the University Green at Bunce Hall. Registration is now open and will remain open through April 14, 2023 at 12:00pm.
Ticketed event
All graduates receive 6 guest tickets for the University Commencement Ceremony & Celebration and 4 guest tickets for the College Ceremony. Graduates are required to download and send their tickets to guests by April 14, 2023. After the deadline, additional tickets may become available in a lottery for graduates. Digital and printed tickets will be accepted at the entrance. As a reminder, all ceremonies are ticketed events and only guests with tickets will be permitted.
Regalia (Cap & Gown)
NEW in 2023! Rowan University has customized regalia for all graduates in brown and gold. Caps and gowns are available for purchase at the Glassboro Barnes & Noble beginning March 27, 2023 at the in-person Commencement Fair. Sizes will not be guaranteed after April 14, 2023. If you have any questions or need to set up an alternative pick up, please email capandgown@rowan.edu.
Arriving on campus
For the University Commencement Ceremony & Celebration at Wackar Stadium, the guest entrances open at 8:30am. Graduates must arrive and check-in by 9:15am at parking Lot O-1 for line up.
For the college ceremonies on the University Green, the guest and graduate entrances open 45 minutes prior to the ceremony start time. Graduates will check-in and line up in the baseball field.
Parking & Shuttles
Commencement maps will be available in the beginning of April and shared on the website and in email. Complimentary parking is available on campus and shuttles will continuously loop from the parking lots, as well as, the Glassboro Marriott to ceremony locations.
Requesting an accessible parking pass
Graduates and guests requiring accessible parking must submit a request for a permit to parking@rowan.edu. Requests can be made from March 27 – April 22, 2023. For the University Commencement Ceremony, parking Lot C is dedicated for accessible parking and Lot P has been dedicated for all ceremonies on the University Green. These parking lots are permit only.
Complimentary refreshments
After the University Commencement Ceremony, all are invited to the celebration on North Campus Drive. The event will feature light fare, snacks, photo opportunities, music and more. A beverage garden is available at a fee for beer, wine and champagne.
Following each college ceremony, graduates and guests are invited to enjoy pretzels and water ice, along Summit Lane, between Laurel and Oak Hall. Complimentary water will be available to graduates and guests at the baseball field, University Green and Summit Lane.
Photography
GradImages photographers will capture moments at the University Ceremony, as well as, at the college ceremonies at the baseball field, as well as, when graduates cross the stage at the University Green.
Inclement weather
Commencement ceremonies will be held rain or shine. In the case of thunder and lightning, we have reserved inclement weather dates for the University Commencement Ceremony & Celebration: Sunday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. and Monday, May 8 at 9:00 a.m.
In the case of thunder and lightning for ceremonies held on the University Green, under a tent, we will move into Esbjornson Gym, at the same date and time of the originally scheduled ceremony.
